Loft conversion
Permission has been granted for a loft conversion and roof modifications at 114 Andrew Road in Cogan, Penarth.
The approved plans include a dormer on the rear elevation.
Work must begin within five years.
As part of the conditions, a sample of the composite cladding must be submitted to the council prior to installation.
Additionally, a revised materials specification plan must be provided. This plan should detail the use of reused roof tiles from the existing structure on the extended side-facing hipped roof.
All work must be completed as specified before the dormer or extended roof area can be occupied.
Bio-diversity and green infrastructure improvements are also required as part of the scheme.
Tree works
Approval has been given for tree works at 11 Marine Parade, Penarth.
The application covers three lime trees located close to surrounding structures.
The works involve reducing the trees back to their previous pruning points and cutting back from a neighbouring property.
The council confirmed it has no objections and will not be placing a tree preservation order on the site.
The works must be completed within two years of approval.
Gym to retail unit
A change of use has been approved at The Moorwell on Windsor Road, Penarth.
The ground floor, previously used as a gym, will now operate as a retail space.
The retail area will focus on the sale of wine, spirits, and beer.
The premises will employ five full-time staff. Opening hours will be Monday to Friday from 10am to 8pm, Saturday from 9am to 7pm, and Sunday and Bank Holidays from 10am to 5pm.
No external air conditioning units are included in the plans.
Work must begin within five years of the approval date and be carried out in line with the approved plans.
Childminding approval
An application has been approved for use class C3 – Dwellinghouse (with childminding use ancillary to the primary residential use) at 10 Coronation Terrace, Penarth.
No external signage or additional staff are proposed.
The childminding service will operate Monday to Friday and will care for up to four children alongside the occupants’ two children.
All collections will be completed by 6pm.
The application states there will be no material increase in traffic, with drop-offs and collections staggered.
Station Hotel
A variation of approved plans and window and noise mitigation has been granted for the Station Hotel on Windsor Road, Penarth.
An application has also been approved for the subdivision of existing living accommodation on the first and second floors to create three self-contained apartments.
External alterations are also included.
The applicant must submit a new site layout plan and timetable within 56 days of the permission date.
A Biodiversity Enhancement Strategy must also be submitted within the same period.
Care home alterations
Retrospective permission has been granted for internal alterations at the Waverly Care Centre on Plymouth Road, Penarth.
This includes modifications to the lift shaft and the adjoining intensive care unit.
The changes are intended to improve fire safety and operational efficiency.
A Green Infrastructure Statement has been submitted, outlining bio-diversity enhancements to be carried out before the development is used.
