Bargain hunter Emily shared her incredible designer haul.
For those who enjoy shopping but prefer not to overspend, charity shops are an ideal solution. British high streets are brimming with them, each offering unique clothing, accessories, homeware pieces, books and much more.
It’s also a more mindful approach to shopping, providing a fresh start for items that might otherwise have been thrown away, whilst supporting charitable causes. There’s nothing quite like discovering a genuine bargain amongst the racks, but one social media user has taken it to new levels.
During a recent charity shop trip, TikToker Thrifting With Em uncovered a piece valued in the thousands and paid just a tiny fraction of its worth.
Emily, a bargain-hunting mother who dedicates her time to sourcing great deals and reselling them, posted about her “best charity shop find ever” in a TikTok clip which has racked up over 278,000 views so far, reports the Express.
As she entered Mercy in Action in Saltford, Bristol, she explained: “I can’t believe what I found in this charity shop today. It’s probably the best find I’ve ever had since I started reselling.”
When charity shopping, you must be willing to search before stumbling upon a real bargain. Emily succeeded in finding just that — a Hermès two-piece ensemble, valued at an eye-watering £2,900, bearing an £8.50 price tag.

Showing it off, she said: “I know it’s only January but this is my find of the year. I know it’s an acquired taste, but I had to pick it up.”
The two-piece ensemble is made from knitted material featuring a dark cheque pattern. It comprises a button-fastening long-sleeved cardigan paired with a roll-neck top designed to be worn beneath.
Commenters were astonished, with several questioning whether the discovery was authentic. Emily clarified that the outfit was vintage and two decades old, accounting for the deteriorated label.
One commenter queried: “Is that Hermes real though? The label looks a bit shabby.” Another argued: “It is real, label is from Jean Paul Gaultier era at Hermes.”
A different user said: “That is such an amazing find! What a great little shop.”
Someone else posted: “Omg that Hermes set is lovely, great find.”
But this was just one of numerous bargains that Emily discovered in this specific charity shop. She also found a pair of Peloton cycling shoes for £15, when they typically sell for £120.
She also picked up a men’s Barbour waxed jacket for £25 – an impressive 10% of the cost of purchasing one new. Labels including Ugg, Harrods, Anthropologie and Monsoon also appeared in this haul, so the next occasion you fancy purchasing a new outfit but don’t want to spend hundreds of pounds, it might be worthwhile visiting your local charity shop.
