Penarth Lawn Tennis Club, based in the town centre, has reached full capacity since 2022 but is now able to offer a limited number of spaces to new adult members.

The club currently has around 800 members.

Rob Cunningham, head coach at Penarth Lawn Tennis Club, said: “It’s great to be able to welcome new members to our tennis and social community.

“We have always had off peak memberships on offer.

“But if you want to play on busy weekday evenings, this is your chance.”

The club is also continuing to offer junior memberships starting from just £5 per year.

It provides a wide range of tennis activities, from coaching for beginners to men’s, ladies’, and mixed team tennis.

Several of its teams have won their leagues during the winter season.

In addition to tennis, the club hosts a lively social calendar.

There is social tennis, with volunteers providing food and serving drinks from the popular bar every Friday.

Mr Cunningham said: “With the weather getting better we’ll be opening up the outside bar so people can enjoy a drink in the garden after a game. When the weather is good, we often have a barbeque too.”

Events also take place on Saturdays, including a live band or winter quiz nights.

Those who join the club before Monday will be eligible to take part in the Prosecco Cup, a Bank Holiday tournament open to players of all abilities.
