Police officer injured in two-vehicle crash

The road has been closed in both directions while emergency services work at the scene

A police officer has been injured following a two-vehicle crash. The officer has been taken to hospital following a crash on the A458 between Middletown and Welshpool in Powys.

Dyfed-Powys Police said the crash took place at around 11.20am on Saturday morning. Welsh Ambulance Service paramedics and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.

No one is thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash, a police spokeswoman added.

The stretch of the A458 remains closed at this time.

A statement from Dyfed-Powys Police read: “Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A458 between Middletown and Welshpool at approx. 11.20am on Saturday morning (April 4).

“Vehicles involved were a police car and a white Audi A1. Ambulance and Fire and Rescue services attended the scene, and ambulance conveyed one police officer to hospital. Injuries sustained by any party are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

“The road is closed, and motorists are advised to please avoid the area and find alternative routes.”
