The source of the fire is supposed to have broken out in a nearby ‘flat’ and South Wales Fire and Rescue have been contacted for comment to verify this.
Residents reported that the fire broke out around 3pm and many locals have said the smell of smoke is in the area.
Online reaction from the Barry community has been strong with many locals expressing concern.
Andrea Jones said: “Praying for everyone’s safety.”
Carys Victoria said: “It was by Avocet Court.”
Multiple fire engines were deployed to the scene, and crews from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service remained in the area for some time. Eyewitnesses also reported that the Welsh Ambulance Service was in attendance.
