Police update on car fire which closed A465

Emergency services were called to the incident on the busy A-road

Road closed after vehicle fire, prompting a major emergency response

• Police responded to reports of a vehicle on fire just before 5pm on April 8 on the A465 between Neath and Llandarcy.
• Witnesses reported seeing a major presence from emergency services at the incident, including fire engines, ambulance and police. A driver told WalesOnline that people were waiting on the hard shoulder as the situation was dealt with.
• The road was subsequently closed, with large queues of traffic reported. It then reopened just before 6pm.
• No other vehicles were involved, and no injuries have been reported.
• It is not yet clear as to what the cause of the fire was.
