Richard Drew, 61, of Columbus Close, Barry pleaded guilty to committing the offence on Pantmawr Road in the Rhiwbina area of Cardiff.
The offence occurred on November 4 last year.
At Cardiff Magistrates’ Court, he was disqualified from driving for 12 months.
He must pay £253 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
