Owen Evans, 39, from Barry was locked up at Newport Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to child sex offences on the day of his trial.
He admitted meeting a girl under 16 years of age following grooming, engaging in non-penetrative sexual activity with girl 13 to 15, engaging in sexual communication with a child and making an indecent photograph of a child.
The defendant’s offending took place between October 1, 2024 and June 4, 2025.
Judge David Wynn Morgan jailed Evans for seven years plus an extended licence period of three years.
He will have to register as a sex offender indefinitely and he was made the subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
A restraining order was made preventing him from contacting his victim until further notice.
Evans will have to pay a £228 surcharge following his release from custody.
