Police and emergency services were called to Park Road, near Romilly Park, at around 10.30pm on Monday, April 13, following reports that a person had been assaulted.
Large cordons are in place, closing the road to traffic between Porth‑Y‑Castell and Porthkerry Park and restricting access to the park itself.
South Wales Police later confirmed that two males, an 18‑year‑old man and a 17‑year‑old boy, have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody while enquiries continue. The pair were detained in the Roath area of Cardiff at around 11pm on Monday night, and a car has been seized as part of the investigation. Several items have also been recovered from the scene on Park Road for forensic examination.
Throughout Tuesday there has been a heavy police presence in the area, with detectives and forensic specialists working behind the cordon. Locals have reported seeing multiple police vehicles and scene‑of‑crime officers in white suits carrying out detailed searches in and around the street and nearby Romilly Park.
The road remains closed in both directions, with diversions in place, and police are asking drivers and pedestrians to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. South Wales Police have thanked the local community for its patience and understanding as officers continue their investigation.
Officers say that, despite the initial reports of an assault, no victim has yet been identified and checks with local hospitals are ongoing. The force is appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Park Road or Romilly Park area on Monday night to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact South Wales Police quoting reference 2600113574, either online via the force website, by calling 101, or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 in an emergency.
