Roof replacement

Plans have been submitted to replace the rear roof of a property on Kymin Terrace, Penarth, with Glendyne natural slates.

The work will include raising the bottom edges of the dormer windows, installing new lead flashings, and replacing the double glazed units in the side of the window.

In addition, the fibreglass flat roof atop the dormer will be replaced with a black EPDM rubber membrane.

The applicant described the current rear roof covering as being in ‘urgent need of repair,’ and explained that the existing tiles are no longer available.

The proposal aims to use slates that are more in keeping with the roof’s original appearance and the character of neighbouring properties.

Conditions and amendments

A number of applications relating to conditions and amendments for existing developments have been submitted.

One application is for the discharge of a condition relating to the windows of a development at a property on Stanwell Road, Penarth. The full development is to replace the wooden window sash frames with more energy efficient UPVC sash windows and frames.

Another application is to amend an existing development at a property on Kestrel Way, Penarth. This would see a step in the wall removed and a smaller footprint overall. It would also see the kitchen and bathroom windows relocated to the side elevation. There would also be an amendment to the finishes on the extension and alterations to the glazing size to the rear.

A third application has been submitted to discharge a condition relating to downpipe and hoppers for a development at 20 Victoria Road, Penarth.
