NHS patients who use Pharmacy2U for their prescriptions are receiving an urgent email from the company over a ‘two-day’ alert. Pharmacy2U is the largest online pharmacy in the UK, offering free home delivery of NHS prescriptions and a range of health services.
More than two million patients are registered with Pharmacy2U, and according to the latest figures, in excess of three million medicines are dispensed every month. Pharmacy2U delivers NHS repeat prescriptions directly to your door at no charge, partnering with Royal Mail to provide tracked delivery, which typically arrives within two to three working days following GP approval, reports the Mirror.
In an email dispatched to service users, Pharmacy2U is urging customers to ensure they have sufficient medication to last throughout the forthcoming long bank holiday weekend. The service will be closed for two days, with patients being advised to “please request your prescription as soon as possible”.
A statement from the service included in the email reads: “We just wanted to remind you that if you need to order medicine in time for the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, please request your prescription as soon as possible so that there’s enough time for your GP to approve your request. This will enable us to dispense and deliver your medicine in plenty of time.”
It adds: “Our Customer Care team will be available to contact if you need anything”. Patients are able to contact Pharmacy2U at the following times on the dates listed below:

Regarding when to place an order, the service recommends: “Placing your repeat prescription order online seven working days before you need your medicine. This gives plenty of time for us to get approval from your GP before checking, dispensing, and dispatching your items.
“They’ll then be delivered using Royal Mail Tracked. The timeline is often much quicker than this, but seven working days helps us to make sure you don’t run out.”

Should you require urgent medical assistance, contact NHS 111 or dial 999 in an emergency. If you urgently need prescription medication during the Easter period, please contact your GP or visit your local pharmacy.
To sign up with Pharmacy2U, the company states it will require certain details upon registration, including your name and date of birth, your GP surgery details and what medicines you’re prescribed. If you know your NHS number, add this too. “It can make the registration process even quicker,” the firm says.
To order a prescription, Pharmacy2U says: “It’s easy to get your medicine online with our safe, hassle-free website and app. If your GP needs you to request prescriptions directly, don’t worry – we can still take care of the rest. Just place your request with your GP either using SystmOnline, via their website or the NHS App, and we’ll handle your order as soon as it’s approved.”
