‘He was the life and soul of every party’
A motorcyclist who died in a crash on the A472 Hafodyrynys on Monday, May 4, has been remembered by his family as a “loving son, partner, brother, stepdad and grandad.”
Officers from Gwent Police and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance service were called to the scene of a crash involving a motorbike at around 2.35pm on Monday 4 May. The rider of the motorbike, a 44-year-old man, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, has been named as Andrew ‘Buzz’ Edwards.
His family has paid tribute to him. They said: “Andrew was a loving son, partner, brother, stepdad and grandad who brought joy, laughter and warmth to everyone lucky enough to know him.
“He had a smile that lit up every room and a zest for life that was truly infectious.
“Andrew loved his family deeply and was happiest surrounded by the people he cared about most.
“He was the life and soul of every party, yet also one of the kindest and most caring people you could ever meet.
“He had a passion for fast cars, holidays, good food, and capturing photos of all our adventures together. More recently, he found a great love for his motorbike.
“Andrew was loved by everyone who met him and his loss has left a huge hole in all of our hearts that can never truly be filled.
“We will miss him every single day, but we will continue to live our lives as fully as we can — just as he would have wanted.
“One of Andrew’s favourite sayings was, ‘We’re here for a good time, not a long time’ and anyone who knew him will know just how truly he lived by those words.”
A GoFundMe page was set up by a friend of Andrew’s in the days following his death. It has raised over £5,000 so far.
Daniel Brook said: “Buzz was more than a friend to all of us, he was the person you could always rely on no matter what. He had a way of lifting people up when they were feeling low and could always put a smile on your face, even on the hardest days.
“Buzz’s philosophy on life was fun, fun and more fun. He didn’t just live for the weekend, he lived for the moment taking every chance he could to make friends and even strangers smile. He was generous with his time, money and love with everyone.”
