Sully car boot sale cancelled after stewards assaulted

by martyn jones

Sully Sports Car Boot Sale announced on Facebook that this Sunday’s event (May 17) has been postponed until further notice following “concerning behaviour” shown towards volunteers on Sunday, May 10.

Organisers said it had been formally brought to the attention of committee members that several visitors acted in an “aggressive and threatening and assaultive” manner towards staff.

“Such conduct shall not be tolerated or accepted towards any members of our staff,” the statement said.

As a result, there will be no car boot sale scheduled for this coming Sunday until further enquiries have been followed up and organisers have reviewed the safety and security of their staff.

The organisers said they will be looking to step up staff security measures going forward before the event can resume.

“It is disheartening that such persons who do this ruin it for others, but we take safety as paramount for anyone attending or working the boot sale,” the statement added.

The Sully Sports Car Boot Sale is a popular weekly event that attracts visitors from across the Vale of Glamorgan and beyond.

Anyone with issues or concerns is asked to email carbootsales@sullysportsclub.com.

The boot sale team thanked customers for their understanding during the suspension.
