Flight Club terrace gets a summer glow-up for Cardiff

The high‑energy bar, tucked just off St Mary Street, is already known for its Social Darts: fast‑paced, tech‑driven games that automatically track every throw and give you instant replays on big screens.

Instead of one person silently chalking scores in the corner, everyone in the group is involved, rotating through the oche while the screens flash up team names, forfeits and celebrations. It’s competitive in all the right ways and a lot more interactive than sitting at a table nursing a drink.

We visited just as the terrace’s “summer glow‑up” launched, and it feels like stepping into a secret garden above the city.

Floral displays wrap around the outdoor bar and cabins, strings of lights criss‑cross the space ready for golden hour, and there’s a mix of open seating and more tucked‑away booths so you can choose between people‑watching and something more private.

The live music, a solo singer when we visited added to the atmosphere without drowning conversation, and helped the night feel like more of an occasion.

Drinks‑wise, there’s plenty of choice. The standout for us was the Passion Fruit Picante – a mix of tequila, citrus and passion fruit that lands somewhere between zingy and gently spicy, and tastes exactly like a summer holiday in a glass.

The wine list is solid too, and 125ml pours make it easy to try something interesting without it feeling like a big splurge.

Food is built around sharing. Pizzas start from around £12 and are easily big enough for three people to pick at between games.

Smaller plates like chicken tacos and loaded “truffle” fries are ideal for groups who want to graze rather than sit down to a full meal.

The real strength of Flight Club Cardiff is how it wraps everything together: rooftop drinks, a game that actually gets everyone talking and moving, and live music that keeps the mood high.

If you’re planning a birthday, a work night out or just want something a bit different from the usual city‑centre bar crawl, this terrace is well worth adding to your list.
