Here are five things you should know about the café.

1. It’s a family-run business

The Busy Teapot is run by brothers Ade and Martin, who have turned the café into one of the most recognisable and welcoming venues in Penarth.

Their upbeat, approachable service and cheerful atmosphere have earned praise from regulars, who describe the café as full of character and always offering a warm welcome.

2. It’s just off the town centre

The café is located at 27 Glebe Street, a short walk from the main high street.

It’s open Tuesday to Friday from 8am until 2.30pm, and Saturdays from 8am to 2pm.

Despite being slightly tucked away, its popularity has never waned.

3. The menu is simple and homemade

The Busy Teapot serves classic all-day breakfasts, hot lunches, sandwiches, baguettes and daily specials.

Everything is made in-house, with homemade pies, poached eggs and Welsh cakes standing out as customer favourites.

Vegetarian and vegan options are also available, ensuring everyone is catered for.

4. High ratings from customers

With 292 reviews and a 4.7 out of 5 rating, the café is currently ranked fifth out of 75 restaurants in Penarth on TripAdvisor.

Customers frequently highlight the quality of the food, value for money, and the welcoming atmosphere.

Wales Online previously listed it among the best breakfast spots in Wales, quoting one reviewer who described it as serving the “best full Welsh breakfast in the world”.

5. Good food hygiene

The Busy Teapot was last inspected by Vale of Glamorgan Council in September 2025, earning a food hygiene rating of four out of five, which is classed as “good”.

Food handling and management were both rated as good, while the facilities were described as “generally satisfactory”.
