Glyn Webb, 79, of St Donats Close, Dinas Powys admitted attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
Cardiff Magistrates’ Court heard how the offence took place on August 29 last year.
The defendant’s case was committed to crown court where he is due to be sentenced on June 17.
Webb was ordered to register as a sex offender.
He was granted conditional bail.
