In court from Barry and St Athan for motoring offences

The defendants were accused of driving without insurance, speeding, refusing to identify alleged speeding drivers for the police, and keeping a vehicle which did not meet insurance requirements. 

Their cases were heard in the magistrates’ courts in Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Swansea, Aberystwyth, and Northampton.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

GAVIN WILLIAMS, 47, of Meirion Close, Barry, was fined £660 for using a vehicle without insurance.

He was also ordered to pay a £264 victim surcharge and his driving licence was endorsed with eight penalty points at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.

ROSANNA MARSHALL, 42, of Cyril Street, Barry, has been banned from driving for twice failing to provide information to police regarding the identity of a driver.

On each occasion, the offences related to alleged speeding violations in 20mph limits.

For each offence, Marshall was fined £660 and was ordered to pay £120 in costs at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court.

She was ordered to pay a surcharge of £528.

Marshall was hit with six points for the first offence, and received a six-month disqualification for the second.

FREDERICK HAINES, 89, of Rectory Drive, St Athan, was fined £100 at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court for speeding in a 30mph limit.

He was caught by an automatic camera device, and his licence was endorsed with three penalty points.

He was also ordered to pay a £40 victim surcharge.

FRANKY DYMOTT, 50, of Main Street, Barry, was fined £180 and ordered to pay £120 in costs and a £72 surcharge at Swansea Magistrates’ Court after failing to provide police with the identity of a driver connected to an alleged speeding offence.

His driving licence was endorsed with six penalty points for the offence of failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver when required. 

JOHN WILLIAMS, 66, of Cemetery Approach Road, Barry, was fined £220 at Northampton Magistrates’ Court for keeping a vehicle which did not meet insurance requirements.

He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88 and £100 in costs.
