Outbuilding approved
A retrospective application for the retention and completion of a domestic outbuilding at 49 Pontypridd Road has been approved.
The structure is intended for use as a granny annexe and will include a kitchenette, bathroom and living area located at the end of the rear garden.
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water raised no objections but requested a condition relating to surface water.
Access to the annexe will be through the main house and garden.
Due to its location and shared facilities, the council concluded it will not function as an independent unit. A condition has been imposed to ensure the outbuilding remains ancillary to the main dwelling.
The structure’s size was not considered to be excessively dominant due to the generous garden space and existing mature trees and fencing, which help screen it from public view.
The council also found that the outbuilding would not have a harmful impact on neighbouring properties.
