Tree felling
Approval has been granted to fell a holly tree located next to a garage at 1 Church Road, Penarth.
The tree leans against the garage roof, which contains asbestos and is scheduled for removal and replacement.
Although the tree is in a conservation area, it is not subject to a tree preservation order.
The council has imposed a condition that the tree must be removed within 24 months of the approval date.
In its response, the authority confirmed it has no objection to the works and will not be seeking to serve a tree preservation order in this case.
Tree works
At 4 Victoria Avenue, Penarth, permission has been granted to fell a tree located within the public highway.
The tree stands within an adopted highway verge, making it the council’s responsibility.
While the applicant suggested a range of potential works, including pruning and root management, the council’s highways department confirmed the tree would be felled and replaced.
The work must be completed within 24 months, and the council has confirmed it does not object to the plan or intend to serve a tree preservation order.
The council said: “I should be grateful if you would consider replacing the tree in order to continue the benefits which trees make to the setting and amenities of the area in general.”
