The pair were cut off at Penarth Head when they were spotted by RNLI Penarth’s Atlantic 85 crew who were out on an exercise.

A spokesperson for RNLI Penarth Lifeboat Station: “While both our lifeboats were on exercise this evening our Atlantic 85 crew spotted two walkers and a dog cut off by the tide at Penarth Head.

“Fortunately our D Class was close by and able to quickly recover the casualties and return them safely to our slipway”.

This was the second call out to people cut off by the tide in the past few days.

RNLI Penarth Lifeboat Station are warning the public to check the tide times and make sure they leave plenty of time to complete their journey safely.

The spokesperson said: “This was our second call out to people cut off by the tide in the past few days, we’d again encourage anyone walking on the coast to check tide times and ensure you leave plenty of time to complete your journey safely”.
