According to a new study by travel comparison site Idealo, Cardiff Airport ties for second place on the list, charging an average of £7.89 for a draught lager at airside bars and restaurants.
This puts it alongside Leeds Bradford and Newcastle airports, with only Liverpool John Lennon Airport topping the list at £7.94 per pint.
The research examined the cost of the cheapest standard lager at three airside outlets in each airport.
It found that regional airports are generally more expensive than their larger counterparts.
East Midlands Airport ranked third at £7.82, while Luton and Bristol airports averaged £7.53.
London City Airport, despite its reputation for high prices, placed seventh at £7.08 per pint.
Heathrow and Stansted airports were found to be the cheapest, with a pint costing just £6.45.
Edinburgh Airport followed closely behind at £6.55.
The research highlights the rising cost of travel, particularly for families already feeling the squeeze of higher living expenses.
A higher-priced pint is just one of many unexpected costs that add up before departure.
On the plus side, idealo noted that Cardiff Airport offers the UK’s cheapest drop-off fee at just £3.
Andreas Petrat, senior international business development manager at idealo, said it is clear that holidaymakers are feeling the pinch.
Mr Petrat said: “The cost-of-living crisis has made holidays more expensive before you’ve even left the airport, but our study shows that those departing from Cardiff Airport are feeling the pinch a little more than most.”
The study is part of idealo’s wider analysis of hidden airport costs.
It also looked at parking fees, lounge access, and other extra charges.
Cardiff Airport, located in the Vale of Glamorgan, has been investing in services and attracting new routes in recent years.
As passenger volumes grow and new airlines return, so do expectations of a convenient and enjoyable start to any trip for travellers in Wales.
But for those hoping to relax with a drink before take-off, the advice is clear.
Mr Petrat said: “Grab your pint before you hit the terminal.”
