Decision made on bid to transform Penarth HSBC building

by David Jones

Bank change of use

An application to convert the ground floor of the former HSBC building on Herbert Terrace in Penarth into commercial use has been withdrawn.

The proposal involved changing the use of the space from A2 to A3 use and extending the ground floor to create a terrace area facing Herbert Terrace and Stanwell Road.

The plans also included modifications to three existing upper-floor flats, with new stair access and external terraces.

Non-material amendment

Approval has been granted for non-material amendments to a previous application at 38 Windsor Road, Penarth.

The updated plans relate to the redevelopment of the former RAFA Pier and Piano Club.

The proposal involves the construction of a two-storey extension and the incorporation of part of the club’s former beer garden into a larger rear yard area.

The amendments related to conditions for a privacy screen, external materials, extraction details, and sound insulation.
