Non-material amendment

A non-material amendment has been approved for a home on Colcot Road, Barry.

The changes involve reducing the size of a previously approved rear extension, altering window layouts and redesigning the porch.

The original scheme included a part single, part double-storey rear extension, a two-storey side extension, and an attic conversion with a rear dormer.

Side extension

A first-floor side extension above an existing integral garage has been approved for a property on Merthyr Dyfan Road, Barry.

The extension will provide a new master bedroom and en-suite.

Full planning conditions include the completion of biodiversity enhancement measures prior to first use, with photographic evidence required within four weeks of installation.

All approved works must begin within five years of the decision date and be carried out in line with the approved plans.

Rooflight windows

Flush conservation-style rooflight windows have been approved for installation at a property on Park Road, Barry.

The development must begin within five years, and biodiversity measures outlined in the Green Infrastructure Statement must be fully implemented before the property is brought into use.

Any plants that die, are removed, or become seriously damaged within five years of completion must be replaced with similar species, and photographic evidence of all measures must be submitted within four weeks of installation.

Ground floor toilet and shower

A ground floor accessible toilet and shower, including a new porch extension, has been approved for a home on Coleridge Crescent, Barry.

An existing external storeroom will be modified for internal access and incorporated into the main dwelling.

All works must begin within five years, and biodiversity measures must be implemented prior to use.

One side-facing window in the storeroom will be permanently fitted with obscure glazing and retained as non-opening.

Static home

A proposal to place a two-bedroom static home on an existing hard standing at Borough Avenue, Barry, has been refused.

Intended for use by family members and visitors, the application was rejected over concerns about visual impact and design.

The council described the proposal as ‘poorly conceived and located’ and said it would be harmful and would fail to adhere to the established building line.

Outbuilding

A new flat-roof outbuilding has been approved for The Dales on Little Brynhill Lane, Barry.

The structure will support ancillary residential uses and include a gym, pool, WC, plant room, and sauna.

Biodiversity enhancement measures must be completed before occupation, with photographic evidence submitted within four weeks.

Any planting lost or damaged within five years must be replaced with similar species in the following season.

Dormer loft conversion

A dormer loft conversion has been approved at Min-y-mor, Barry.

Conditions require that the external materials of the front link and rear dormer match the appearance of the existing roof at the time of approval.

Biodiversity measures outlined in the Green Infrastructure Statement must be completed prior to use, with photographic evidence to be submitted within four weeks of installation/planting.
