The venue’s opening has been highly anticipated by locals after it was pushed back in mid-May, and again before it was due to open on June 3 due to “utility installation delays.”
General manager Matt Birch said: “Opening day is now just around the corner, and we’re so excited to finally welcome the community into Morio Lounge.
“The support and enthusiasm we’ve already felt from local people has been incredible, and we can’t wait to open our doors and become a place where everyone can come together and enjoy great food, drinks and a brilliant atmosphere.”
The venue has created around 30 new jobs for the area and has transformed the disused former toilet block on Nell’s Point into a place of luxury.
Loungers’ design team have completely revamped the building, adding patterned wallpapers, vintage sofas, murals, and colourful tiling.
Different dining areas have been created, along with statement lighting and cosy, relaxed seating.
The lounge is designed to feel like a home away from home.
It will be open from morning until late evening, and will serve a full and varied menu throughout the day.
Food and drink options include brunch, burgers, tacos, noodles, toasties, salads and fried chicken.
Tapas and drinks are also on offer.
Dedicated vegan and gluten-free menus ensure guests with dietary requirements have plenty of choice.
Weekly promotions include Tapas Tuesday, where guests can enjoy three tapas dishes plus a glass of house wine, pint of Cruzcampo or soft drink for £14.50, and Cheeky Mondays, where guests can order any burger, main or salad and receive a complimentary house wine, Cruzcampo, soft drink or pudding.
The Cocktail Club runs daily from 5pm until closing.
Morio Lounge aims to be family friendly, with games, books, and colouring supplies available for children.
The venue is equipped with highchairs, baby-changing facilities, and a full children’s menu.
The name “Morio” means “sea,” a nod to the venue’s seaside location in Barry.
