Westbourne School students were awarded some of the highest marks in this year’s IB results, placing them in the top two per cent of IB students globally.
Students will be progressing to leading universities including Imperial College London, University College London, and King’s College London.
Gleb S, one of this year’s top scorers who achieved 44 points and will go on to study aerospace engineering, said: “One word that sums up my Westbourne experience is transformative.
“The IB was the right choice for me because I did not want my subject choices to be narrow.
“I wanted to study a wider range of different sciences and disciplines.
“I knew I was interested in engineering, physics, biology, mathematics, science, but I also wanted an education that developed my writing skills, thinking, and ability to connect ideas across different topics and subjects.”
Other highlights from Westbourne’s Class of 2026 include: Highest scores: 44 out of 45 points; 40+ points: One in three students; and nearly 50 per cent of students achieved 38+ points (University of Oxford entry benchmark)
The IB is internationally recognised for its academic rigour and emphasis on critical thinking, research, and a global outlook.
Westbourne offers both the IB diploma and A-levels to give students flexibility.
The majority of this year’s cohort will go on to study STEM and business-related degrees, including medical biosciences, engineering, business economics, and aeronautics, as well as law and international relations.
Ignas G, who also scored 44 points, said: “It was a mixture of the IB programme and Wesbourne as a school that really allowed me to grow and understand myself and understand what I wanted to learn in the future.”
“The IB Diploma was the right choice for me over A levels because the breadth of subjects that the IB offers you, the six subjects that you do as part of the IBDP really helps you grow as a person.”
Rachel Rees, principal of Westbourne School, said: “Today’s outstanding IB results reflect the strength of Westbourne’s distinctive, future-focused approach to education.
“We are immensely proud of every student receiving their results today.”
