Today, Age Cymru is launching its report on the seventh ‘What matters to you?’ annual survey of people aged 50 and over in Wales: https://www.agecymru.wales/our-work/policy/annual-survey/
This survey ran across March-April 2026 and received responses from 1,448 people across all 22 local authorities in Wales. As in previous years, we asked them about their experiences of health and social care, the cost of living, public transport, access to information, housing conditions, and much more.
This year, we’ve drawn up a short ‘headlines’ report of the key issues reported in the annual survey, covering the priority areas of:
- Cost of living
- Health
- Social care
- Unpaid care
- Transport and travel
- Housing
- Accessing information
Each section contains the most important statistics and comments drawn from survey data. These headline results offer a vital insight to anyone seeking to understand the state of older people’s lives in Wales at the beginning of this new Senedd term.
