The incident happened on Skomer Road at around 11.20pm on Friday, July 17.
The injured man, aged 43 and from Barry, was taken to hospital for treatment.
A 30-year-old man, also from Barry, has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and remains in police custody.
