Footage that has since been spread far and wide on social media shows a large group gathered at the bottom end of Broad Street at around 1.30am.
The video was posted to Facebook around 3am that same night and shows a large group gathered outside one of the many takeaways on the street.
Some members of the crowd can be seen standing on parked cars to get a look at the disturbance as it unfolds, before several shirtless men become involved in an altercation.
The footage appears to show people being knocked to the ground during the incident, with some individuals appearing to kick out at others as it continued.

Officers from South Wales Police said that upon their attendance, “the group involved had left the area,” but that “officers remained in the area as reassurance and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
They have since begun an investigation into the report of affray, asking that any witnesses that could help with their enquiries contact South Wales Police and quote reference 2600240678.
In the days since, South Wales Police has notified the public that officers in Barry have been “given extra powers to deal with anyone involved anti-social behaviour.”
A dispersal order, granted under Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, is in place from 6pm on Friday, July 31, to 6am on Sunday, August 2, for Broad Street and High Street.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Under Section 35 of the Act, police officers can instruct anybody who is causing, or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to leave the area.
“The order is a preventative measure following a report of an affray on July 26.
“There will be also an increased police presence during this time.
“South Wales Police continues to take a zero-tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour.”
The incident has understandably drawn a strong reaction from members of the community.
Councillor Shirley Hodges said: “Like many, I was appalled by the shocking scenes on Broad Street last weekend.
“On Monday (July 27), Barry Town councillors had a briefing from South Wales Police, and we were told that the Police were making visits to licensed premises and local takeaways to check CCTV, as well as identifying those responsible from the footage shared online.
“Councillors have since been updated by Inspector Tyler that they have authorized the use of an anti-social behaviour dispersal notice for this weekend, and we expect that there will be a greater police presence there to ensure that nights pass off quietly.
“Hopefully this was a one off which will not be repeated in future.”
