The airport was named among 19 UK airports rated ‘Very Good’ in the 2025/26 Airport Accessibility Report, which recognised strong performance in supporting passengers with disabilities and mobility needs.
The report also identified growing demand for assistance services, with requests rising by 115.8 per cent since 2015.
Anna Bowles, head of consumer protection at the UK Civil Aviation Authority, said: “The progress made in improving airport accessibility over the last decade is encouraging.
“Through our annual assessments, we have challenged airports to raise standards, increase transparency and focus on the needs of disabled passengers.”
Cardiff Airport was one of five airports visited by the regulator for a detailed ‘deep dive’ assessment.
The CAA framework evaluates airports on waiting times, user satisfaction, and engagement with disabled individuals and organisations.
While national passenger satisfaction with air travel reached 88 per cent – the highest recorded since 2016 – the figure was slightly lower for passengers with accessibility needs, at 82 per cent.
Common challenges reported included difficulties with walking, standing, or carrying luggage.
Airports have invested millions in improving accessibility through upgraded services, facilities, and staff training.
