
All three rail operators affected by this malfunction have issued advice to passengers.
CrossCountry customer advice:
Your ticket can be used at no extra cost, on the following services:
- The two CrossCountry services operating before and the two CrossCountry services after this service
- Transport for Wales services operating between Cardiff Central and Cheltenham Spa (please note these services are also impacted by this disruption)
Great Western Railway customer advice:
Replacement transport in the form of coaches have been confirmed to operate between Wales and Bristol. These will operate from the rail replacement pick up points at Newport (South Wales) and Bristol.
Your ticket can be used at no extra cost, in both directions on the following services:
- First Buses route M4 between Patchway (Titan Road), Bristol Parkway (Station) and Bristol (Centre)
- Stagecoach route 12 between Bristol Parkway (Station) and Patchway (Little Stoke Kingsway)
If your train is cancelled, you may travel on either of the two services before, or two services after, your original train. If these are peak services or less flexible, you can still travel with your original ticket, at no extra cost.
Transport for Wales customer advice:
Rail replacement transport is on standby to operate between Cardiff and Newport (South Wales) if needed.
Road transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.
You may use your ticket at no extra cost on:
- Avanti West Coast services between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe until 16:00
- CrossCountry services between Cardiff Central and Cheltenham Spa (please note these services are also impacted by this disruption)
- Great Western Railway services between Cardiff Central and Newport (please note these services are also impacted by this disruption)
If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.
You can use the following local bus services to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost:
- Route 56 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Crosskeys and Newport via Rogerstone and Ponytmister
- Route X15 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Llanhilleth and Newport via Crosskeys, Rogerstone and Newbridge
- Route 151 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Newbridge and Newport via Crosskeys, Risca & Pontyminster, Rogerstone and Pye Corner
- Route 1 provided by Newport Bus between Rogerstone and Newport via Pye Corner
- Route 30 and X30 provided by Cardiff Bus and Newport Bus between Cardiff and Newport
