Major disruption on railway line after emergency incident near Bangor

Train services between Holyhead and Llandudno Junction are facing disruption after an emergency incident near Bangor

Rail services across North Wales are experiencing significant disruption this morning following an emergency incident. Both Transport for Wales (TfW) and Avanti West Coast have issued warnings that the line between Holyhead and Llandudno Junction has been blocked.

TfW cautioned that the disruption is expected to persist until approximately 12.30pm today.

TfW said: “We have been made aware of emergency services dealing with an incident near Bangor, on the North Wales route between Llandudno Junction and Holyhead.

“As a result, we are unable to run trains through the area until the incident has cleared.

“Our services between Llandudno Junction and Holyhead are disrupted in both directions. We expect the incident to be cleared by 11:00. Train services may be disrupted until 12:30.”

The spokesperson confirmed they are currently arranging replacement road transport for affected passengers.

An Avanti West Coast spokesperson added: “Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Bangor Gwynedd and Holyhead all lines are blocked.

“Train services running to and from these stations may be delayed by up to 60 minutes or terminated at and started back from Llandudno Junction. Bangor Gwynedd and Holyhead will not be served.”
