Malcolm Butler, 79, of Maes Y Cwm Street, Barry appeared before Cardiff Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexually touching a girl under the age of 13 between November 11, 2017, and November 10, 2019.
He also denied a charge of assault a girl under 13 by penetration.
Judge Vanessa Francis adjourned the case for trial which is due to take place on July 19, 2027.
The case is expected to last five days.
The complainant is entitled to lifelong anonymity under the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992.
