Sheridan Ward, 52, has lived in Penarth for the last 17 years of her extensive 30 year career as an artist.
In this time, her work has been admired by the masses and now, she will once again be making the town in which she lives the focal point of her latest works.
Ms Ward’s work will be featured as part of Penarth Art Fair from September 11 to 13, with a private viewing on September 10.
This fourth iteration of the event will see a range of artists from Penarth and the Vale of Glamorgan display their work.
Ms Ward works with oils, predominantly painting landscapes. She has two types of paintings that will be featured at the fair: large studio paintings with lots of layers and colour washes, and pieces painted on location around Penarth.
Her work heavily features the coastline that many locals and visitors to Penarth have come to know and love.
These plein air paintings are produced outdoors on location, often observing the changes in light and atmosphere as the landscape moves around the easel.
Over a two-month period, Ms Ward produced 20 of these paintings – many of which will be on display inside Penarth Pier.
She told the Penarth Times: “I’ve always painted since I was tiny – it’s just what I do.
“It’s a really lovely location and it’s set up very well.
“Because there are so many local artists and so many different styles of art, it’s a lovely thing for people to come and visit.”
Many of the landscapes featured in Ms Ward’s artwork should be instantly recognisable to those in attendance at the Art Fair, with these pieces created on location at the Italian Gardens, seafront, and even Barry Island.
Unlike other exhibitions, this one should prove to be a lot more affordable for those in attendance.
Ms Ward told the Penarth Times that her work will be available to buy for prices between £235 and £285 each – proving a lot more accessible than a lot of other similar fairs.
Those who wish to attend the Penarth Art Fair should visit Penarth Pier between September 11 and 13. Artwork on display will include landscapes, still lifes, realist and abstract paintings, contemporary ceramics, and sculpture.
