The first question is Will the First Minister provide an update on the Welsh Government’s position on the Global Centre of Rail Excellence?
Andrew RT Davies says Senedd members have previously visited the site, and there was previously 1,000 jobs being touted there. “To date not £1 of private money has gone into it,” he said.
He says committee members were told in the last Senedd a “quick decision” needed to be made. He says £70m of public money has been spent on it and £300-400m more is needed to be spent on it.
The First Minister admits “significant” amounts of money has gone into the project – put forward by Ken Skates. He says his government needs to learn what “has happened and what hasn’t”.
“We need to come to a decision soon to make the opportunities on what is still a very important site”.
