Nathan Berry, 38, was working at leisure centres in Penarth and Llantwit Major, where he taught swimming lessons until his sudden suspension in March.
Parents were left in the dark about his absence, only later learning that he had been arrested and subsequently convicted of child sex offences.
Berry admitted sexually assaulting two children and possessing more than 120 indecent images on his mobile phone.
It has now been confirmed that none of the offences were committed against children at the two leisure centres.
A spokesperson for Legacy Leisure, which manages the centres where Berry taught, said: “The individual has had no access to our facilities, operations, or pupils since his arrest in March 2026, at which point he was immediately suspended, barred from all premises, and subsequently dismissed following disciplinary procedures.
“Legacy Leisure cooperated fully and transparently with South Wales Police and the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s safeguarding officers throughout the inquiry.
“South Wales Police has confirmed that none of the criminal offences took place at our leisure centres and that no child taught within our swimming programmes was identified as a victim.”
One parent, whose six-year-old daughter was taught by Berry, said the lack of information fuelled anxiety.
She said: “Something was clearly not right when his lessons just stopped suddenly because he would always seem to be at the pool.
“I think many of us would have liked to have been reassured sooner that nothing happened there.
“They could have got ahead of this but they have allowed parents to worry and fear the worst.”
Berry was arrested in March, and his phone was seized by police.
Officers discovered more than 120 indecent images of children and evidence that he had sexually assaulted a child.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “Berry was arrested in March 2026, and his mobile phone was seized.
“Images of children were found on his phone, and he provided the children’s names.
“Officers visited the children’s parents who identified their children, who are non-verbal, from the photographs.
“While Berry was on remand, his phone was further examined, and evidence was found relating to the offence of sexual touching.”
Berry pleaded guilty to eight offences, including taking indecent photographs, making indecent images, possessing prohibited images, and sexually assaulting a child under 13.
He was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on August 4 to five years and four months in prison, with an extended licence period of eight years.

“We hope the outcome at court goes some way in helping them to rebuild their ability to trust and feel safe again.”
