M4 and other major road closures to hit drivers in Wales this week – full list

There are road works scheduled throughout Wales

There’s disruption ahead for drivers travelling on main roads across Wales from Sunday as maintenance work is carried out. It will affect people who use A-roads including the A470 near and in Nantgarw and part of the A40 in Powys. However many more routes will see disruption, including part of the M4.

Here, we’ve compiled information published by Traffic Wales detailing all the disruption ahead that you need to be aware of. Stay in the know by making sure you’re receiving our daily newsletter.

  • M4 junction 35 Pencoed. Exit slip road closed due to clearance work. Disruption from September 15 until October 9 between 7pm and 6am. Diversions in place.
  • M4 junction 37 Pyle to junction 38 Margam. Bridge closed for resurfacing work. Road affected from October 2 until October 4 between 8pm and 6am. Diversion in place.
  • A470 Llanrwst, both directions. Closed due to resurfacing work for a 10mph convoy. There are temporary traffic lights and a width limit of 3.25m. Disruption from September 7 until October 24 between 7am and 2am.
  • A470 Abercynon to Nantgarw. Entry slip roads closed in both directions due to surveys. One lane is closed. The road is affected from September 24 until October 8 between 8pm and 6am. Diversion in place.
  • A40 Tarell roundabout, both directions. One lane is closed for A470 resurfacing work. Road affected between September 27 and October 23 between 7pm and 6am.
  • A40 Tarell roundabout, both directions. For A470 resurfacing work. Road affected between September 27 and October 12 between 7pm and 6am. Diversions in place.
  • A4076 Steynton to A477 Interchange. Both directions closed for maintenance work. Road affected between September 29 and November 14 from 8pm to 5am.
