Man, 69, in hospital after being hit by van in Aberdare Co-op car park

Police are looking for witnesses

A man was taken to hospital after being hit by a van in a supermarket car park. Police and paramedics were called to the scene of a crash between a pedestrian and a Ford Transit van in the car park of the Cwmbach Co-op store at around 7.30am on Thursday.

The pedestrian, a 69-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a serious, but stable condition, police said.

Police are now appealing for information from any witnesses.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “Officers are investigating a serious road traffic collision which happened in the carpark of Cwmbach Co-op in Aberdare on Thursday, October 1 at 7.30am.

“The collision involved a Silver Ford Transit van and a pedestrian.

“A 69-year-old man is currently in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police Sergeant Matthew Thomas added: “We want to thank those members of the public who assisted us at the scene and would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have any dash-cam footage of the incident or who witnessed the manner of driving of the vehicles prior to the collision.”
