The Choir is due to air in 2027 and there are some famous faces confirmed for the cast
Ruth Jones and James Corden will once again join forces for The Choir, a new Apple TV series. It’s been revealed that the pair, who created and starred in smash hit Gavin & Stacey, will play siblings, Ben and Lisa, on the show – which has added some famous faces to the cast.
The hugely anticipated eight-episode series is said to be about family, friendship, love and music and is Corden and Jones’ first project together since the record-breaking Gavin & Stacey: The Finale in 2024.
Jones and Corden also serve as executive producers on the series, which is now in production and set to premiere globally on Apple TV in 2027.
The synopsis for the show reads: “Brother and sister, Ben (Corden) and Lisa (Jones), haven’t seen each other for several years. Ben has been living abroad, while Lisa has carried on in their small English town where nothing ever happens.
“But when events take a sorry turn, Ben is forced to return to a life he never wanted, a town he never liked and a family from which he’s estranged.
“Can the unlikely healing of a rift with his big sister come in the form of a struggling local choir, and the ensemble who sing their hearts out each week?” For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter
The cast joining the pair is elite. Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham, James McAvoy and Jim Broadbent are signed on as guest stars for the show while the main cast is rounded out by a who’s who of UK TV comedy and drama.
It includes BAFTA Award winner Tom Davis, of Murder in Successville and Wonka, Rosie Sheehy (The Custom of the Country), Actor Award nominee Susan Brown (Mr Bates vs the Post Office), BAFTA Award winner Jason Watkins from Line of Duty and The Game. Homeland and Pierre star David Harewood, The Tuckers and Silo’s Alexandria Riley, Sylvestra Le Touzel (Intelligence) and Gary Lamont from Rivals.
Ruth Jones recently celebrated her 60th birthday. The Porthcawl star partied with Corden, and Rob Brydon at her hometown RAFA club. You can read more on that, here.
