Boots says ‘applications open now’ to work during the festive season – how to apply

A high street chain with more than 1,800 stores has launched a massive recruitment drive. Boots said it is looking to hire 6,000 seasonal workers across its stores, warehouses and customer support operations as it gears up for the Christmas trading period.

It said the roles will be available nationwide across its 1,800 stores, distribution network and customer support centre. Vacancies include customer advisers and operations assistants in stores, warehouse operatives and picker packers, as well as customer service roles supporting shoppers during the festive rush.

It said: “Applications for the roles are now open. Christmas at Boots is one of the busiest and most exciting times of the year. If you’re ready to give it some Boots, a Christmas role is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience while making a real difference. Whether you’re looking for your first role or seasonal work around other commitments, you’ll be part of a supportive team creating brilliant experiences for our customers.

“As a Customer Assistant or Stores Fulfilment Assistant, you’ll play an important role in helping our stores deliver during the festive season. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, flexibility and great customer service are key.

“You’ll receive training and have the opportunity to work across different areas of the store, building confidence and developing new skills. As everyone pulls together, you’ll see the impact your contribution has on customers and colleagues alike.

“Most importantly, you’ll help create the feel-good moments Boots is known for. From helping customers find the perfect gift to picking and packing online orders, you’ll play a part in making Christmas special. Along the way, you’ll gain valuable experience that helps you be Brilliant with Boots and, where opportunities are available, continue your journey with us beyond the festive season.”

Boots said the jobs are open to candidates at all stages of their careers, including first-time jobseekers and younger workers, who typically account for around half of its seasonal hires.

It is also recruiting to support the growing number of ways customers shop during Christmas, including boots.com, Click & Collect and on-demand delivery through Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo.

Boots director of talent acquisition Donna Hodgins said: “For many people, the festive season can be the perfect opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience, build confidence and develop skills that will support them throughout their careers.

“Colleagues who join us over this period become an integral part of our team during one of the most exciting times of the year for retail.”

She added that the roles can provide experience across customer service, operations and teamwork, and for some recruits can act as a route into a longer-term career with the business.

Seasonal staff will receive ‘competitive hourly pay’, a Boots colleague discount and access to additional benefits including savings on cinema tickets and holidays. Click here to apply.
