Barry takeaway is lining up for yet another big award

Royal Balti is no stranger to awards but has reached the finals of the Takeaway of the Year category of the Food Awards Wales.

This accolade and nomination are just the latest in a string of awards for the business.

In July, the takeaway was awarded for Outstanding Achievement in the Outstanding Takeaway of the Year category at the British Curry Championship, recognising its innovation, dedication, and excellence within one of the country’s most cherished and popular food industries.

Royal Balti will find out if it’s won at the Food Awards Wales, at a ceremony on November 30 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Swansea, where it will be joined by other hopefuls in its category.

These awards are now in their tenth year, recognising and celebrating the achievements of businesses and individuals in Wales’ thriving food and hospitality sector.

Over the past decade they have honoured hundreds of businesses across the country that have shaped the culinary landscape, with Royal Balti hoping to be among the next cohort of winners.

A spokesperson for Oceanic Awards, Food Awards Wales’ organisers, said: “Reaching our 10th year is a fantastic milestone for the Food Awards Wales.

“The standard of nominations and entries received this year has once again demonstrated the passion, talent and commitment that exists throughout the Welsh food industry.

“We would like to congratulate all finalists on their achievement and wish them the very best of luck ahead of the awards ceremony.”

Since it became part of Barry’s growing food scene in 2003, Royal Balti has taken home a range of awards with the most recent including a Good Food Award Gold Seal, being named Best Takeaway of the Year 2025 at the Welsh and Midlands Curry Awards and maintaining its five-star food hygiene rating year after year.

Reflecting on its most recent win, Royal Balti said: “This belongs to our amazing Barry community and our incredible team who cook with heart every day.

“Thank you for choosing us, supporting local, and making us your go-to.

“We’re so proud to represent Barry.”

Most of the staff at this family-owned takeaway have worked with them for more than a decade, ensuring that consistency and quality are always at the forefront of their ever-evolving menu that features fresh poultry and quality ingredients.
