The success came at the Rhondda Cynon Taf Splash Short Course Season Opener on Saturday, September 26, in Newport, where Penarth Swimming & Water Polo Club saw seven swimmers represent the club.
The team, representing Wales’ oldest swimming club, earned five gold, four silver, and two bronze medals.
Kaarina Ruta, club chair, said: “We are incredibly proud of all seven swimmers who represented Penarth at the RCT Open Meet.
“Bringing home 11 medals is a brilliant achievement, but just as importantly, it’s wonderful to see their confidence growing and the hard work they put into training paying off.”
Established in 1893, the club has 65 members, with a growing number now taking part in competitive events.
The recent results reflect the club’s renewed success and the strength of its youth development.
Ms Ruta said: “Our swimmers, coaches and families put so much into the Club, and results like these show what can be achieved through dedication, encouragement and teamwork.
“We hope their success will inspire even more young people in Penarth to get involved in swimming and water polo.”
Head coach John Bennett and the coaching team have been focused on giving swimmers more opportunities to compete at regional meets, helping them gain experience beyond the training pool.
The club, based at Penarth Leisure Centre, offers swimming and water polo for young people in Penarth and surrounding areas.
It is now looking to build on this success with more regional competition opportunities planned for the current season.
Anyone interested in joining or supporting the club can visit its website or email Penarthswpc@gmail.com.
The club is also seeking sponsors to help continue its work.
Coaches, swimmers, and families have all contributed to the club’s recent achievements.
