Rear extension and dormer
An application has been made for a Lawful Development Certificate under Section 192 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 at 17 Lavernock Road. It covers a single-storey rear extension and a dormer loft conversion.
The extension would replace an existing single-storey element and have a flat roof about 2.4 metres high.It would have a maximum depth of 4 metres and be finished in render, with a rear door and windows.
The dormer would be about 2.1 metres high, 2.9 metres deep and 4.6 metres wide. It would have hung tiles and two UPVC windows.
Roof replacement
An application has been submitted for roof work at 11 Windsor Terrace, where the current roof is leaking and has limited insulation. The proposal would replace the roof slates, battens and related materials, while adding PIR insulation and a TLX Gold multi-foil roofing membrane.
The roof form, height, footprint and structure of the house would not change.
The proposed replacement slates would be blue-black Thrutone or similar fibre cement slates, with the existing clay-capped ridges retained or replaced in a similar style.
Existing roof windows would also be replaced with matching-size Velux windows, together with associated flashing and roof details.
Pavement crossover extension
An application has been made to extend the existing pavement crossover at 1 Fairfield Road by lowering the slabbed kerbline. The proposal states there would be no loss of high-value ecological features or natural green space.
The front garden previously had about 95 per cent concrete paving slabs. It now comprises about 33 per cent concrete paving and 67 per cent permeable gravel surfaces and planted border areas.
The application states that this change has reduced impermeable surfacing, increased rainwater infiltration and helped reduce possible surface water runoff to the public highway.
Steel and glass balcony
Plans have been submitted for a powder-coated steel and glass balcony at first-floor level beside the front door of 58 John Batchelor Way. The balcony is intended to match the one at number 27 and would be built on an existing structure.
The application states that the work would not harm green infrastructure. It also proposes more planting, including shrubs, flowering plants, geraniums, small fruiting shrubs and lavender. Three bird boxes and insect hotels are also proposed, with ongoing maintenance of the planting described as part of the plans.
