One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the crash involving a minibus

An air ambulance landed at the scene of a serious bus crash in Bridgend that left one person needing hospital treatment. A stretch of road near Bryncethin was shut for a number of hours as emergency services worked at the scene.

The crash involved a minibus which left the road and came to rest on a grass verge and against trees. A Wales Air Ambulance was seen landing near the scene.

It happened on B4280 between Heol-y-Cyw and Pencoed on Thursday afternoon with emergency services, including police, paramedics and the fire service, responding to the incident.

A spokesman for South Wales Police has since confirmed that the driver of the minibus was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The minibus was a Bridgend Community Transport vehicle.

A spokesperson for the charity said they will be making no further comment at this time due to the ongoing police investigation.

A police statement read: “South Wales Police was called at 3pm (Thursday, October 15) to a single minibus having left the road on the B4280 between Heol-y-Cyw and Pencoed.

“The driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.”
