Aldi’s latest SpecialBuy range includes a Midi Dehumidifier that can help speed up clothes drying, reduce moisture levels and prevent mould growth in the home during winter
Aldi has unveiled a fresh range of ‘winter warmer’ SpecialBuy products, designed to assist shoppers in staying warm at home throughout the colder season. A particularly notable item is an electronic dehumidifier, created to accelerate clothes drying, minimise mould and improve air quality by extracting excess moisture.
The UK has been experiencing an especially cold weather and wet weather lately, with the Met Office issuing multiple weather warnings.
During such weather, numerous households nationwide will turn up their central heating and turn to drying laundry indoors on radiators or heated airers to avoid substantial energy costs. Nevertheless, this can result in elevated moisture levels in the atmosphere, frequently leading to condensation and mould in properties.
Dehumidifiers function to enhance air quality by eliminating excess moisture. This assists in preventing the development of mould, mildew, and dust mites, all of which can worsen allergies and make breathing more challenging.
Whilst there’s an extensive selection of dehumidifiers available, Aldi has launched one as part of its newest SpecialBuy middle aisle collection. The Midi Dehumidifier, costing £89.99, is now available to buy in stores, reports the Mirror, reports Birmingham Live.
The 200W domestic appliance boasts a two-litre reservoir and can remove as much as twelve litres of moisture each day, making it perfect for controlling dampness throughout your property during the winter months. It’s also equipped with castors, allowing for effortless movement from room to room.
Further specifications include a ‘simple’ touch-screen display, a ‘near-silent’ setting, child safety lock, overflow safeguard and automatic power-off once the water container is full.
Placed alongside damp laundry, it can speed up drying periods for those seeking to save money by steering clear of tumble dryer usage. The dehumidifier is obtainable only whilst supplies remain.
As is standard with any SpecialBuy product, stock is restricted.
An Aldi representative stated: “For speedy drying and to manage moisture in the air during colder months, shoppers can choose the Midi Dehumidifier (£89.99). Designed to help manage moisture at home during the colder months, it can remove up to 12 litres of water a day and has a 2L tank, adjustable humidity settings, a 24-hour timer and a quiet operating mode for use around the house.
“The unit also comes with wheels for easy movement, a simple touch-screen display and a drainage hose for continuous use, making it a useful addition for keeping spaces comfortable and helping clothes dry more quickly.”
According to Which?, the UK consumer organisation, dehumidifiers remove excess moisture from the air, helping to address condensation, prevent mould growth and reduce dampness on walls. There are two main types available: refrigerant or desiccant models.
The organisation states: “Refrigerant dehumidifiers work by creating a cold surface; when warm, damp air comes into contact with it, water condenses and drips into the water tank. They typically struggle in colder spaces, such as cellars.
“Desiccant: This type has a desiccant wheel that absorbs moisture from the air. An internal heater and fan drive moisture off the wheel so the process can be repeated. They are effective in both warm and cold spaces.”
