Amazon’s Prime Day event returns next week, with deals running from June 23 to June 26
The team at Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert (MSE) has shared advice for Amazon shoppers to help customers find the best deals during Prime Day. The annual sale event is back next week, taking place from 23 to 26 June. Open to Amazon Prime members, the promotion features discounts on numerous leading brands.
It could be ideal for shoppers who’ve already set their sights on a particular item and are hoping to snap it up at a reduced price. That said, MSE has pointed out that customers might also want to check competitors’ deals.
MSE said other retailers could offer better prices, even during sales. MSE said: “Amazon’s not always cheapest, even during a promo event – so use price comparison tools.
“If there’s a product you’re looking for, use a ‘shopbot’ comparison tool such as Google Shopping and Price Spy to find its cheapest online price on that day.” The guidance noted that some sites may favour certain retailers.
MSE added that shoppers should also ‘look out’ in case any retailers offer a price match and better perks, such as a better guarantee. The advice said: “Look out for price-matching from other retailers. Check AO.com, Argos, Currys, John Lewis, Joybuy and others who may offer free extras such as a longer guarantee on some products.”
Amazon Prime Day stands as one of the biggest shopping occasions of the year. While the event spans a four-day period, customers can anticipate a changing selection of offers. The event officially begins at midnight on 23 June and concludes at 11.59pm on 26 June.
Last year, the event took place in July. Offers ranged from summer staples to beauty products and technology. Customers keen on the sale can register at any point during the event and will receive immediate access to the deals on offer.
Amazon has already begun discounting certain products, having introduced several Early Prime Day Deals on sought-after items, including Ring doorbells and Apple AirPods. Amazon Prime membership typically costs £8.99 per month, although Amazon is currently offering a free 30-day trial to new customers.
There’s also an offer for students and customers aged 18 to 24. The deal includes six months of Prime membership for free and a 50% discount.
Prime membership automatically grants access to Amazon Prime TV, and also includes next-day delivery on orders. Amazon says: “When your free trial or membership period ends we’ll automatically charge for the next membership period.”
