Barry and Rhoose drivers accused of motoring offences

The eight defendants were accused of speeding, keeping untaxed vehicles, and failing to comply with off-road notifications.

Their cases were heard in the magistrates’ courts in Bath, Yeovil, Oxford, London, Northampton, Derby, and Tameside.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

JOSHUA OVERTON, of Station Road in Rhoose, was ordered to pay more than £1,800 after failing to comply with an off-road notification.

Overton was sentenced to pay a £660 fine, £85 in costs, and £1,112.50 in back duty at Tameside Magistrates’ Court on March 4.

KYLE EVANS, of Court Road in Barry, was fined £220 for keeping an untaxed vehicle.

On March 4 at Northampton Magistrates’ Court, Evans was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and £60 in back duty.  

CHRISTOPHER BARNETT, 53, Afal Sur in Barry, was caught speeding in a temporary 50mph limit.

Barnett was fined £220 at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on March 5, and had three points added to his licence. He was also ordered to pay £120 in costs and a surcharge of £88.

MATTHEW VENABLES, 42, of Pendoylan Close in Barry, must pay £86.25 in back duty after failing to comply with an off-road notification.

Venables was told to pay a £220 fine and £85 in costs at Bath Magistrates’ Court on March 4.  

STACY PIKE, 38, of Arno Road in Barry, was fined £220 for keeping a vehicle which did not meet insurance requirements.

At Oxford Magistrates’ Court on March 6, she was also ordered to pay £100 in costs and an £88 surcharge.   

LYNNE ROGERS, of Heol Y Sianel in Rhoose, must pay £175 in back duty after failing to comply with an off-road notification.

Rogers was also told to pay a £440 fine and £85 in costs on March 5 at Derby Justice Centre.

BETHAN MARY LAVENTURE, 26, of Bendrick Road in Barry, pleaded guilty to speeding in a temporary 50mph speed limit.

At Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on March 5, Laventure was sentenced to pay a £40 fine. £44 in costs, and a £16 surcharge. She also had three points added to her licence.

PHILLIP CHRISTOPHER HUNT, of Barry Road in Barry, was fined £440 for keeping an untaxed vehicle.    

Hunt was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and £32.50 in back duty on March 5 at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court.
