Barry and Rhoose drivers in court for motoring offences

The defendants were accused of speeding, keeping a vehicle which did not meet insurance requirements, and refusing to identify drivers who were alleged to have committed offences.

Their cases were heard in the magistrates’ courts in Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Aberystwyth, Birmingham, and Bradford.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

MATTHEW EVANS, aged 19, of Golwg Y Coed, Barry, admitted twice exceeding a 50mph speed limit.

Evans was fined £120 for each offence at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court, as well as a £96 victim surcharge.

For the first offence he received six penalty points on his licence, before being banned for six months for the second charge.

JORDAN GREGORY, aged 23, of Holton Road, Barry, failed to provide information relating to the identification of a driver.

Gregory was fined £660, received six penalty points, was ordered to pay £130 in costs and a £264 victim surcharge at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court.

DANIEL CLARK, aged 33, of Clos Dinas, Barry, was fined £115 for keeping a vehicle that did not meet insurance requirements.

Clark pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay £100 in costs and a £46 victim surcharge at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court.

VINCENT KING, aged 62, of Monmouth Way, Barry, was fined £220 at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court for exceeding a 30mph speed limit.

King received three penalty points, must pay £120 in costs and an £88 victim surcharge.

CHRISTIAN JORGENSEN, aged 47, of Rhodfa’r Mor, Rhoose, failed to provide information relating to the identification of a driver.

The charge related to giving information about a driver who was alleged to have driving without due care and attention.

Jorgensen was fined £660 at Bradford Magistrates’ Court, received six penalty points, was ordered to pay £120 in costs and a £264 surcharge.
