The ceremony took place at Barry’s Memo Arts Centre on Friday, June 5, marking a return to the venue after two years at Penarth Pier Pavilion.

A full house attended the event, which celebrated 39 finalists nominated by the public across categories including business, sport, community work and the voluntary sector.

A special recognition award was presented to Anthea Clements for her 30 years of work with YMCA Barry and her wider contribution to organisations across Wales and beyond.

The event was hosted by Bro Radio presenters Patrick Downes and Charley Greatrix.

It was supported by headline sponsor Victoria Park Mazda, alongside a range of category sponsors and a networking reception backed by United World Logistics.

Among the winners, Jac Thomas was named young person of the year, while Konnar Haynes of Palmerston Primary received teacher of the year.

Barry Athletic Football Club was awarded sports club of the year, and Health Hwb took the business of the year title.

Other winners included Vale of Glamorgan Project Linus as community group of the year and East Vale Community Transport, which received the charity award.

The Romilly Summer Festival was named community event of the year.

The triumph over adversity award was won by Ed Grant, and the entrepreneur of the year award was won by Stacey Long.

Awards host Patrick Downes said: “Every year I’m blown away by the passion, dedication and heart shown by people across the Vale.

“These awards remind us just how special our communities are, and it’s a privilege to help shine a light on those who give so much of themselves for others.”

More information about the awards and a full list of winners is available at the Bro Radio website.
