The popular seaside race in Wales has filled all spaces just weeks before runners take to the streets.
The event is the second in the R4W 10K Series and will take place on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
Rachel Madge, event manager for the Barry Island 10K, said: “We’re really looking forward to returning to Barry Island for our 10K event with the exciting addition of Gŵyl Fach y Fro.
“This will be our biggest event yet with more than 4,600 participants registered to take part across all distances.”
The race route will take runners past Whitmore Bay, the Knap, Romilly Park, and Watch House Bay, and is known for its lively atmosphere and strong community support.
This year, the event coincides with Gŵyl Fach y Fro, a Welsh music and culture festival organised by Menter Iaith Bro Morgannwg.
The festival will run across the weekend and include food and craft stalls, children’s activities, and performances from Welsh artists.
Ms Madge said: “As always, expect a great atmosphere around the course and at the finish line, and it will be a great day out for the whole family with lots to do in the event village and surrounding area.”
Although the 10K is fully booked, limited places remain in the Family Fun Run, Future Challenges races, and the Toddler Dash.
The deadline to register for these events is Sunday, May 10.
