Ford Transit van driver Sam Vater, 24, of Clos Holm View, Barry pleaded guilty to going through a red light in Bridgend.
Cardiff Magistrates’ Court heard the offence happened on the A473 at the Cowbridge Road junction with York Road on August 7 last year.
Varer was fined £143 and ordered to pay £130 costs as well as a £57 surcharge.
His driving record was endorsed with three penalty points.
